2020 Registration

The Boys and Girls program descriptions are listed below.  Programs open to the general public for residents of Westfield are listed below.  Boys Girls who are invited to play on a Travel  team level play have already participated in tryouts and have been emailed a separate link to register for their respective teams.  

PRIOR TO REGISTERING WITH THE WESTFIELD LACROSSE CLUB YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER WITH US LACROSSE. The  WLC you will be directed to the US Lacrosse website to renew or establish a membership.   You must accept and agree to their terms and provide complete emergency/medical information or your registration will be rejected by US Lacrosse.
 

Instructions:

  1. Click on one of the programs listed below and login your using email and password.
    • First time?  Enter your email for a username and leave the password blank and hit submit.  The system will generate a password and email it to you.  Check your inbox for the password in order to login and continue.
    • Don't remember your password?  Try entering any of the emails you normally use and leave the password blank.  The system will email your password to you.
  2. Under your family account, you may manage multiple children and continue registering additional members of your family by choosing additional programs.
  3. Complete all required information especially address and zip code as these programs are restrictred to residents of Westfield.
  4. Print the confirmation page.  This is important and can help in investigating issues should they arise. This is your receipt.

Important Notes:

E-mail required! To register your child, you must have a valid email account and be able to check it now.  The system will generate a password and send it to you.  Your email will become your username on this system.  You will have to check your email in order to obtain the system-generated password for your account in order to complete the registration process.  We suggest you use a home/personal email address where you have control over the spam filter - a corporate email system's spam filter may give you troubles.  Please allow a few minutes for the system to generate your password and send you the message.

Credit Card required: Payment is required via online credit card transaction only - no checks or cash.  The system supports American Express, Mastercard, and Visa.  Please have your credit card handy.  Please see read the Refund policy.

Privacy settings: This system has features to support on-going communication, if your volunteer coach chooses to utilize them.  When you register, you be prompted for various email and text message options.  You can choose privacy settings such as 'Public, Roster-only, or Private'.  These are explained on the registration page.  By default, a player's privacy is at the roster level only, and the parent/guardian is public.  Some coaches may elect not to utilize these features and simply download your email address and send messages from their email program on their home computer instead.  In either case, please make sure your coach has a good email address for you.  It is the policy of the WLC not to share any contact or personal information of any kind with outside programs.

Text Messaging: Be sure to enter your mobile phone # and service provider (AT&T, Verizon, etc) so we can blast out last minute updates, weather cancelations, etc.

Late Registration fees are automatically applied by the system on the Late Date posted below; to avoid a late fee please register before midnight the night before.

Spring 2020 Girls Soft Toss K-1

Girls K-1 Grade Soft Toss Program

(Sunday mornings starting in April)

  • Soft Toss Program
  • Sessions (start in April- 1 hour per session) This is an entry-level instructional lacrosse program. The children use only a lacrosse stick and soft-toss balls to participate in basic skill practice such as catching, throwing, cradling, and scooping. We will do cone drills and simple games to help their coordination and confidence. It is designed to be a lot of fun.

Spring 2020 Girls 3rd Grade

Girls 3rd Grade

WLC offers a single instructional program for girls in 3rd grade. The focus of this program is on teaching the fundamentals of scooping, throwing and catching and the basics of the game.
 

  • Base Cost of $150
  • You must have a US Lacrosse membership $30
  • There are no try-outs or cuts at this level – it is open to all. We want as many girls as possible giving lacrosse a try at this age to see if they like it. Girls should get exposure to playing all positions – no specialization.
  • Primary emphasis on stick work and fun activities that maximize the number of touches and skill advancement of the players. Focus on combining learning of skills and having fun on the field.
  • Coaches utilize a progression of skills to be learned and a catalog of age appropriate drills effective in teaching those skills.
  • Games are a combination of in-town teams and games versus other near-by towns such as Summit, Cranford and Scotch Plains/Fanwood.
  • One tournament / playday for the teams.

  • The children use only a lacrosse stick and tennis balls to participate in basic skill practice such as catching, throwing, cradling, and scooping. We will do cone drills and simple games to help their coordination and confidence.
  • It is designed to be a lot of fun.
  • Equipment needed: Lacrosse Stick
  • Total Cost is $80 (Westfield Lacrosse $50 / US Lacrosse $30)

2020 Spring Boys 2nd & 3rd Grade

2nd & 3rd Grade Lacrosse

  • Spring Boys 2nd & 3rd Grades 
  • This is an In-town league (starts in late March (weather permitting) and runs through 2nd week in June)  Practice will be twice per week (clinic style) with one game on the weekend.  Games are 8 vs 8 on a short field.  For 3rd grade players who are ready and by decision of the coaches, a few games may be organized with neighboring towns (SP/F, Clark, etc.)
  • At the coaches discretion, games against neighboring towns will be scheduled.   Consistent with the Travel Programs in Grades 5 to 8, these travel games are recommended for players who ready to play in a more competitive environment and have demonstrated a commitment to training.  Focus is on teaching fundamentals, everyone plays multiple positions  Late registration fee of $25 charged for all registrations after Feb-15.
  • Equipment Needed: Lacrosse Stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, cup, mouthpiece 

 Total Cost is $155 (Westfield Lacrosse $125 / US Lacrosse $30)

4th Grade Lacrosse

  • This is an In-town league with a limited amount of travel games. (Starts in Late March/early April and runs through June)
  • Everyone will practice twice per week and play one game per week.
  • Games will be 10 vs 10 on a large field.
  • Focus is on teaching fundamentals, everyone plays multiple positions
  • At the coaches discretion, a tryout will be held for a mid-season travel/tournament team and a few games will be organized with neighboring towns (SP/F, Clark, Madison, Summit, Chatham, etc.), possibly entering festival style tournaments.  Base Cost of $180 (Westfield Lacrosse $150/US Lacrosse $30)
  • Late registration fee of $25 charged for all registrations after Feb 14

  • In-Town League: Open to all players who do not play on the Elite or Select travel teams.  The results of the travel team player evaluations have been communicated. If you are not aware of which team you are on please contact Kevin McGurn
  • Select team players do not need to register but will practice with the In-Town program.  Players will practice one time per week (clinic style) and play one game per week.  There will be one 5th/6th grade league.
